E-waste is the most rapidly growing segment of the solid waste stream. End-of-life batteries and electronics contain heavy metals that are a harm to the environment if thrown away. Devices donated to the Digital Inclusion Project significantly eliminate e-waste in landfills, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, preserve natural resources, and conserve more energy than recycling devices prematurely. Our devices will eventually be recycled, but we want to delay its trip there by giving them out to the community first.
